BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — New riders on Golden Empire Transit can now get monthly passes for half the normal price -- while they last.

GET is offering unlimited rides each month to new customers for just $21. There are 1,500 passes available through the Half-Off Pass (HOP) Program from now until the end of September. The passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

First-time riders must verify their new rider eligibility at the GET Administration office at 1830 Golden State Avenue in order to purchase the half-price monthly pass by filling out a form. A new rider is defined as someone who has been riding GET for less than six months or has never ridden before. A photo ID is required.

The HOP can be used on all GET routes.

The program is funded by a $30,000 grant from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District as part of Valley Air District's efforts to improve the health and quality of life for everyone who lives in the Valley.

The offer is only available while grant funding lasts.
