The Helping Animals Live Tomorrow (or H.A.L.T.) 7th Annual Fun Run took place on Saturday, and it's all to benefit homeless and abandoned pets.

The 5K and 10K runs took place at Yokuts Park at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

H.A.L.T. is a nonprofit rescue organization that aims to place displaced dogs and cats in loving homes.

With nearly 20,000 dogs and cats put to death in Kern County, the organization saw a need to step up.
