BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bird scooters swooped into Kern County without an announcement last year but it now seems as if the Birds may have flown the coop.

City Manager Alan Tandy told 23ABC that Bird seems to have downsized their presence in Bakersfield without telling anyone.

When Bird first arrived back in December, there were dozens of the motorized scooters tied to poles in the Downtown Bakersfield Area. But now, the Birds have been slowly disappearing.

Tandy says the city reached out to Bird who confirmed they have cut back on their scooters.

It was also confirmed by the city that no their scooter companies have plans to come to Bakersfield.
