A heated exchange between residents and police officers in McFarland resulted in the arrest of three people Friday night.

Videos of the arrests were posted on social media and sent in to 23ABC.

Those connected to the three that were arrested said McFarland police officers used excessive force and were trespassing on their property.

However, a press release sent out by McFarland PD contradicts those claims.

Police officials said that at about 6 p.m. officers were called out to a home on San Pedro Street regarding an alleged shooting.

When officers arrived, they discovered that there had been a shooting, but there were no victims.

However a vehicle on the property had been struck by gunfire.

Police said they wanted to impound the vehicle for evidence purposes related to their investigation.

According to the McFarland PD, that is when the homeowners who had called them, became hostile.

Officers said the arrests were made after they were assaulted.

24-year old Manuel Martinez and 20-year-old Jesus Martinez were taken into custody.

The third person that was arrested was a minor therefore their name is not being released.
