BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to BPD, last year on the 4th of July dispatchers took 1,401 calls for service between the hours of 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. and the departments says they anticipate vent more calls this time around.

Bakersfield police said on Facebook that the fireworks hot-line will be open on July 4 and 5 for any calls related to illegal firework use.

They also emphasized that 9-1-1 calls are for emergencies.
