BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Here are some things you may want to know about taking place in Kern County today:

In light of the wildfires a local group would like the community to join them to "pray for rain."

The event will take place Saturday in Bakersfield at Jastro Park.

Organizers are asking attendees to social distance and wear a mask or face covering.

It will be Saturday and Sunday at 3 p-m.

Despite the pandemic, people are still finding ways to honor firefighters who gave their lives to keep people safe.

The fallen firefighter memorial ceremony is happening online today at www.iaff.org/fffm20.

The memorial starts at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Also 23ABC News wants to share another quick reminder not to drink and drive this weekend because The Bakersfield Police Department is holding a DUI checkpoint.

The checkpoint is starting at 6 p.m. Saturday and it will last until 2 a.m. Sunday.

As always, these checkpoints are held in spots where DUI related crashes often take place.

Keep in mind that a DUI doesn't just refer to to driving drunk.

You can get a DUI for being high behind the wheel.

If you plan to drink make sure you have a designated driver and remember if you see someone who might be driving drunk call 911 immediately.
