BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A high-speed chase ended in a rollover crash, in east Bakersfield, and injured a Bakersfield Police officer Sunday night.

Investigators say officers were trying to pull over a car just before 11 p.m., Sunday, when the driver took off.

Officials say the driver pulled over and four people jumped out of the vehicle and those individuals were detained.

According to BPD, the driver then continued to drive, eventually turning into a cul-de-sac, where officers initiated a felony car stop.

The driver suddenly reversed and rammed into a patrol vehicle.

The suspect continued, lost control and rolled over in an area near Kern Canyon Road, close to Hillcrest Cemetery.

BPD says the suspect was booked on various charges including assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading and participation in a street gang.

As a result of the crash, an officer suffered minor injuries.

It is unclear how the officer sustained his injuries.
