Highway 46 is closed at Smith Road in Wasco after a farm worker found a container filled with pesticides.

One container was empty but another container had up to 80 gallons of pesticides inside of it, so the Kern County Fire Department's Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Team was called to investigate as a precaution even though the pesticide isn't considered hazardous at this point, a spokesman for the agency said.

Highway 46 is closed to traffic as a precaution at Smith Road.
