As the holiday season begins, the Department of Human Services is asking you to think of those in the foster care system who can't be with their families.
To make their Christmas a bit more magical, you can make a trip to the "Holiday Cottage."
The Holiday Cottage has been open for 31 years and is meant to help fulfill the wishes of kids living right here in Kern County.
The wishes of the kids, from infants to kids and teens are placed on Christmas Trees and people can come select a wish to grant.
Volunteers then go deliver the items to the kids a move that organizers say brings a big smile to their faces. The cottage which is located on Calloway Drive opens tomorrow and Santa Claus will be in attendance.
Organizers say that granting a wish for a kid lets them know someone in the community cares.
If you would like to be part of the holiday cottage, the grand opening is tomorrow and will be open through December 10.
The grand opening will begin at 11 a.m. in the Rosedale Village in Suite 104.
