Holiday Cottage supports foster children in Kern this holiday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Holiday Cottage has opened their doors for the 31 year in a row, to help grant Christmas wishes for foster youth from around Kern County.

The Holiday Cottage was made possible this year thanks to the department of human services, along with IKEA and Home Depot that helped build and decorate.

There is still time for you to select a wish made by a local child living in foster care. All you have to do is pick up the wish from the cottage and deliver it back to the cottage within three days. The gifts are then delivered to kids spending the holidays in foster homes or group homes around Kern.

It's a small way that organizers said the community can make the season feel a little bit more special. This is the last weekend the holiday cottage will be open.

If you'd like to help, you can go down to the cottage on 2765 Calloway Drive and just make sure you return the wrapped gift by this Monday December 10th.

23ABC is also sponsoring the event and we will have live coverage again Monday morning
