BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County Animal Services' has created a new program, is asking the community to consider taking in shelter animals during the holidays.
The "Holiday Hounds" program is aimed at providing short-term foster homes for adult shelter dogs during the holidays. The Animal Services program already has a foster care program that is largely used for short-term care for over 1,300 underage kittens every year. The new program, which caters towards shelter dogs, they are asking the community to take in one during the holidays.
If you are interested in becoming a foster family for the "Holiday Hounds" program or for any shelter pets, applications can be obtained at the Kern County Animal Services Bakersfield location.
All Holiday Hound dogs will be fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed or neutered.
