BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials are investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead in the Rosamond area Sunday morning.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, residents near 260th Street West and Gaskell Road located the man in his idling truck with multiple gunshot wounds. He was later identified as 42-year-old Procopio Alvarado Ruiz.

Several parcels of land being used to illegally grow marijuana was located nearby, according to KCSO.

Detectives are investigating whether the two scenes are related.

No suspect information is available at this time, according to KCSO.
