Houchin' Blood Bank is asking the community for blood donations to replenish their O- blood type supply.
This universal blood type is particularly important to the organization because it can go to anyone for surgeries, traumas and blood transfusions.
There are two donation centers people can go to, one at 5901 Truxtun Avenue and another at 11515 Bolthouse Drive in Bakersfield.
Donations will be accepted on Thursday until 7 p.m., on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Potential donors need to be at least 18 years old and present a photo I.D. Parent consent is needed for donors who aren't 18.
