Houchin Community Blood Bank offering free donuts for donors

Posted
Friday is National Donut Day and there are multiple locations where you can score a free donut.

Friday at Houchin Community Blood Bank free donuts will be available for donors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. while supplies last at both donor centers.

The two locations are at 5901 Truxtun Avenue and 11515 Bolthouse Drive in Bakersfield.
Except for AB, all blood types are needed for whole blood and platelets.

AB donors are needed only for plasma and platelet donations.

Appointments are needed for plasma and platelet appointments, but not for whole blood donations. The appointments hotline is 661-616-2505.

Only volunteer donors can provide life-saving blood, platelets and plasma for human transfusion.

Donors must weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors 18 and over just need a photo id with date of birth to get started.

Minors 16 and 17 years of age need a parental consent form available at www.hcbb.com.

Many health conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure do not keep one from being a donor. Anyone with questions can call 323-4222 for more information.
