BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The first day of school is approaching for most students in Kern County, and transitioning back-to-school from summer vacation can cause some anxiety.
However, there are ways that parents and students can cope with the anxiety that comes with a new school year.
"Think of kind of that first-morning routine, how we want to make sure we talk positively about school and really build it up because our kids do feed off our emotions," said Matt Diggle, Principal of Endeavour Elementary School in the Fruitvale School District.
Diggle adds that it is important to complete back-to-school shopping as early as possible to alleviate stress.
"It's important to ask your kids questions, ask how their day has gone, and then as a parent, it's important to reach out and use the school resources," Diggle said.
The first day of school for students in the Fruitvale School District is August 14th.
