How to get home safely on New Year's Day

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — While New Year's is known for being a good time, it can also be a dangerous one on the road.

Tonight CHP has some tips that can help you get home safely. CHP officers say that if you plan on having a drink tonight, you need to plan ahead. You can appoint a designated driver, or arrange a ride with a ride share company.

There are numerous options for getting home safely.

Tipsy Tow Service
AAA is offering its Tipsy Tow Service to both members and non-members who may have one too many glasses of champagne. The program will take riders home for free for the first seven miles. For a ride, call 1-800-400-4222.

GET Buses Schedule
GET buses will provide free service from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Buses will operate on a holiday schedule on New Year’s Day, but the administrative office will be closed.

UBER
If you sign up with UBER, you will get a free ride when using the code: MILLERTIME18

AAA has partnered with LYFT to offer free rides up to $15
