ICE suspends enforcement in fire regions throughout northern California

Posted

ICE has suspended enforcement in several fire affected regions throughout northern California. The death toll caused by the fires rose to 31, and officials believe that it will continue to grow as the fires continue to blaze.

Immigration agents said they were not going to be detaining anyone seeking shelter at the various shelter centers or anyone picking up food at food banks set up throughout the northern California region due to the fires.

United States Representative Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) told his constituents that commonly during natural disasters, like the fires raging in northern California, immigration enforcement is suspended.

Altogether the 15 fires have burned more than 212,000 acres.
