On September 14, 2015, at 11:22 pm, Bakersfield police officers were sent to the Bakersfield Homeless Center, 1600 E. Truxtun Ave., regarding the report of a baby not breathing. 

The infant, a two month old female, was transported to a local hospital by Hall Ambulance where she later died. As with all infant deaths, detectives were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. Cause of death will be determined by autopsy. No arrests have been made. Three other children were taken into protective custody. 

The identity of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is on-going.
