An inmate at the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility has passed away after an apparent medical emergency Tuesday.

The man was identified as 55-year-old Douglas Munis.

Medical staff and deputies attempted to save his life but he died 20 minutes later.

No foul play was suspected.

The cause of death is pending further testing.
