One man was killed following a pursuit that resulted in multiple accidents Friday near Coalinga.
Around 9 p.m., a white Dodge Ram pickup truck was driving recklessly neat Highway 101 and Highway 46. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the Dodge truck sped off and was involved in a non-injury accident with a 2004 Lincoln.
The Dodge didn’t stop and led officials on a pursuit into Kings County.
Near Highway 41 and Interstate 5 the Dodge hit a Toyota Camry driven by solo male from Avenal, California. The male died from his injuries at the scene.
After the collision, the driver of the Dodge fled on foot. The suspect was later found lying in the grass northwest of the scene.
The driver of the Dodge, 81-year-old Danny Garcia of Bakersfield, was booked on felony charges including vehicular manslaughter, evading arrest, hit and run, and driving under the influence.
