Investigators believe the remains of Kristin Smart, who disappeared 20 years ago near San Luis Obispo, may be buried on a hillside near Cal Poly.
Two dozen FBI agents and local law enforcement will conduct the search, expected to go through Friday, the San Luis Obispo Tribune reported.
Smart was a Cal Poly student who disappeared over Memorial Day weekend in 1996.
