BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The sights and sounds of the Kern County Fair is a familiar experience for Jeanne Walford. She has been involved in the 4-H Youth Development Program for more than 50 years.

"4-H to me has been like a family," said Walford, the community leader of the Casa Loma 4-H Youth Development Group.

Walford was a member of the Casa Loma 4-H Youth Development group as a kid, and now she serves as the community leader.

A few years ago Walford was recognized for her length of service with a pin acknowledging the milestone passed. Walford's desire to teach the kids hasn't changed throughout her length of leading.

"I want them to be able to have it as a good experience whether they win or lose," said Walford.
