On March 5th, 2016 at about 10:50 pm Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in progress in the 400 block of Woodrow Ave. in Oildale.

When deputies arrived they contacted the victim, Nathaniel Rodriguez. Rodriguez was suffering from at least one stab wound to his torso. Rodriguez was alert and advised deputies he had been stabbed by 19 year old Jimmie Thompson during a physical altercation. Rodriguez was transported to Kern Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were not considered life threatening.

Deputies spoke to several witnesses. Witnesses reported that Thompson had been confronted by a female inside the home after the female observed Thompson attempting to steal items from the home. The female began struggling with Thompson after she confronted him, and Rodriguez then became involved in a physical fight with Thompson. As Rodriguez and Thompson continued fighting, they went out into the front yard of the home at which time Thompson produced a knife and stabbed Rodriguez at least once. Thompson then ran from the area.

Deputies circulated the area and located Thompson near the intersection of Yosemite Drive and El Tejon Ave. Thompson was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was treated at Kern Medical Center for injuries sustained during the fight and later booked into the Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility.
