Jorge Mejia Lopez convicted on multiple charges of sexually abusing an underage girl

He could face up to 37 years in prison

Jorge Mejia Lopez has been convicted of multiple counts of sexually abusing an underage girl.

According to Kern County District Attorney Lisa Green, Lopez was convicted by a jury on one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, one count of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14 and one count of sexual penetration of a child under the age of 14 with a foreign object.

Lopez had previously been convicted of a "strike" offense, which was shooting a firearm into an occupied dwelling.

He faces a sentence of up to 37 years in prison when he's sentenced on December 29.
