Vigil held for 9 year old hit by car on Monday

Posted

Friends and family held a vigil for Justin Paz, the nine year old boy who was hit by a car driven by his mother's boyfriend, Tony Santiago, in Oildale on Monday.

Paz died from injuries suffered when a metal object from the car hit him and he toppled over.

California Highway Patrol says Paz's mother and Santiago had just broken up and, as Santiago tried to reverse to leave the home, Paz's mother tried to stop him from leaving.

Justin's 13-year-old brother tried to pull his mother from the car. Justin swooped around to the other side of the car and was then hit.

There is no confirmation at this time about whether Santiago will face criminal charges.
