KCFD: 672 illegal firework-related calls confirmed over July 4 holiday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Local officials received more than 1,500 calls within a 24 hour period from 8 a.m. July 4 to 8 a.m. July 5, according to Kern County Fire Department.

Of those calls, Kern County Fire and Bakersfield Police Department say they received a total of 672 illegal firework-related calls. According to officials, those calls were made to 911 dispatch and the fireworks hot line.

In addition to the firework-related calls, officials handed out 20 citations for illegal fireworks and seized 400lbs of fireworks.

Thankfully no firework-related injuries were reported during the holiday.
