Kern County Fire Department arson investigators arrested a person suspected of lighting multiple fires in Oildale Thursday night.
Firefighters from both KCFD and the Bakersfield City Fire Department responded to three fires that were reported within 90 minutes of each other, starting at 7:52 p.m.
The first fire was reported in the 100 block of Roberts Lane at an abandoned mobile home. KCFD crews got the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
About an hour later, crews were called to the 100 block of Beardsley Avenue for a fire in another mobile home that was threatening to spread to other nearby units. That fire was also extinguished.
Then, less than 30 minutes later, firefighters put out another blaze near the corner of Warren and North Chester Avenues. Crews had to force their way inside the property to put out the flames.
KCFD also reports there were other reports of suspicious fire-related activity in addition to those active fires.
The suspect's name and gender have not yet been released at this point.
Anyone with information about these fires or the investigation is asked to call 1-877-FIRE-TIP (1-877-347-3847).
