Kern County Fire officials are reporting a chemical spill that happened between south of Bear Mountain Blvd., located between Hwy 99 and South Union Ave. on Tuesday morning.
Where the spill is located:
KCFD officials said on Facebook, No homes or people are threatened at this time. South Union is shut down between Hwy 99 and Hwy 223.
KCFD said their crews will have a safety briefing before making entry to identify the substance.
Kern County Environmental Health is also on scene.
KCFD officials added that their crews have made entry and determined that the 15-20 buckets in question are not leaking and no chemicals have spilled into the nearby canal.
Kern County Environmental Health will remain on scene with an Environmental Clean-Up Company to identify and arrange for the disposal of the product.
