BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Tuesday, the Kern County Fire Department’s Chief, David Witt, announced that Open Burning has been reinstated.

Witt said the decision was made after a thorough review of "multiple factors including, but not limited to: moisture accumulation, long rang weather forecasts, and fuel moisture levels."

The department said all persons burning hazard reduction fuels must complete the appropriate permit in advance. Please not that burn permits are only valid on “Permissive Burn Days” as determined by the APCD. Station Captains, at their discretion, may suspend burn operations in their districts, KCFD added.
