Kern County Fire officials said they rescued a woman after she drove off the side of the Kern River Canyon on Friday.
Officials said just before 10AM, Kern County Firefighters and fellow First Responders were called to the Kern River Canyon for a vehicle that drove off the side of the canyon near Democrat Hot Springs.
KCFD officials added the patient self extricated and proceeded to evade rescuers, jumping into the cold waters of the Kern River.
The patient eventually became hypothermic and accepted aid from responders.
Officials said the woman was treated for injuries, stabilized on a backboard, and flown to Kern Medical Center in Hall Ambulance MedEvac 1.
