UPDATE (9/26 9:18 p.m.) Kern County Fire crews have had a busy day in Oildale after reporting to six fires sparking since midnight on Tuesday.

Kern County Fire said they received a call at 8:25 p.m. about a fire at a two-story abandoned building near Norris Road and Howard Avenue.

Capt. Jason Knaggs with KCFD said crews were at the same location for a fire several months ago.

The fire was contained relatively quickly and did not spread to nearby units, Knaggs said.

Nobody was injured from any of the fires on Tuesday.

Community members are urged to call fire tip line, 1-877-FIRETIP if they saw anything suspicious.

KCFD said they know several of the fires from Tuesday are definitely related. They are still looking for the person of interest, described as an African American man with a light to medium complexion, with short hair, roughly 6 feet tall and 40 years old.

That man was reportedly seen acting like he was yard cleaning near where the fires started.

Investigators are on scene.
