The Kern County Fire Department rescued an elderly man who had fallen off a cliff near his residence in Hart Flat.

The incident happened early Wednesday afternoon after KCFD received a report that the 91-year-old man had fallen and rolled down a slope and into the ravine near his home.

Due to the remote location and steep terrain, a rescue helicopter was used to hoist the man up on a basket stretcher.

The man was flown to Keene Helibase and then transported to a Bakersfield hospital with multiple injuries.
