Kern County Sheriff's Department deputies have arrested five people accused of burglarizing Compton Junior High.
At about 8:43 a.m. Sunday, deputies were dispatched to Compton Junior High on a report of a burglary in progress.
When deputies arrived, witnesses said the suspects carried stolen property into a residence on the 3100 block of Edwards Avenue.
Deputies searched the residence and located numerous items stolen from the school including; twenty two (22) HP Chromebook laptop computers, two (2) projectors, and numerous small electronic items. The laptop computers are valued at about $400 each.
Deputies arrested Ruben Navejas, 24, Johnny Mendez, 24, Brian Hulsey, 30, Shelly Valencia, 41, and Elsa Martinez 37, on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy to commit a crime.
