A man drowned in the Kern River near the Keyesville area Monday afternoon, according to officials.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office says someone along the river called authorities when they noticed a body floating down the river at about 1:30 p.m.

Rescue crews recovered the body and turned it over to the coroner's office.

KCSO says the man was not wearing a life vest.

This marks the 6th body recovered from the Kern River since June, 1.
