The Kern County Sheriff’s Office CalMMET unit, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Major Violators Unit and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force executed a Search Warrant today in the 600 Block of Jeffery Street. This was the conclusion of a short term narcotics investigation into the sales of controlled substances from a residence.
Upon searching the residence officers located a quarter pound of methamphetamine, three ounces of cocaine, twenty five pounds of marijuana, forty two marijuana plants, two handguns, US Currency, and other items indicative of the sales of narcotics.
Arrested at the scene was nineteen year old Bakersfield resident Javier Ontiveros and thirty four year old Bakersfield resident Carlos Cortez. Ontiveros was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sales, possession of a controlled substance while armed, transportation of a controlled substance, maintaining a residence for the sales of a controlled substance, and cultivation of marijuana. Cortez was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sales, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sales, and maintaining a residence for the sales of narcotics.
Both subjects were booked into the Kern County Jail Central Receiving Facility on the above listed charges.
