3 arrested after KCSO pursuit, search in Oildale

On January 21, 2016 at approximately 12:00 p.m., deputies with the Sheriff’s Gang Unit attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle being ridden by 45 year old Robert Terrell Shields in the area of Decatur St and California St in Oildale.

Shields did not yield and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued for several miles through Oildale and concluded in the 5000 block of Pierce Rd when Shields decided drop the motorcycle and attempt to run on foot. After a brief chase, Shields was taken into custody.

Deputies then went to Shield’s residence at 5930 State Rd in Oildale and executed a search warrant. At the residence deputies located 38 year old Sandra Leathers, 20 year old Keith Post and 19 year old Kevin Post.

During a search of the property deputies located a loaded and stolen 38 caliber handgun, over a quarter pound of methamphetamine, $3,800.00 in US currency and paraphernalia indicative of the sale of controlled substances.

Robert Shields and Sandra Leathers were arrested on several charges including, being convicted felons in possession of a firearm/ammunition, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, maintaining a residence for the purpose of distributing controlled substances and possession of stolen property. Shields had the additional charge of evading a peace officer without due regard for public safety.

Kevin Post was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and Keith Post was arrested for violating the terms of the Electronic Monitoring Program. Shields, Leathers, Kevin and Keith Post were all booked into the Kern County Central Receiving Facility.
