BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man has been arrested for reportedly waving a gun in public, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday around 1:17 a.m. deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office answered to a report that 33-year-old Jesus Gomez was waving a firearm near 100 East Belle Avenue.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Gomez intoxicated by his car. Officials say they also spotted a handgun and ammunition resting on the front passenger’s seat of Gomez's car.
During a search of Gomez’s car deputies found an AR-15 assault rifle, a 1911 style .45 caliber pistol, one loaded handgun magazine, one 40-round .45 caliber drum style magazine, three 30-round .223 magazines, and numerous rounds of ammunition.
Gomez was arrested and transported to the Central Receiving Facility on the following charges, Public Intoxication, Illegally Possess an Assault Weapon, Carry a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place, and Possession of a High Capacity Magazine.
