DELANO, Calif. — Kern County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in solving a cold case that happened in November of 1980.

According to officials, an unknown group of individuals set out to cause harm and commit murder upon several people along a stretch of Highway 99 near Pond Road in the Delano area.

A 1968-1970 white Ford four door passenger car occupied by four Hispanic males in their early 20’s reportedly pulled alongside multiple vehicles and fired a handgun indiscriminately into the passenger compartments of multiple vehicles.

They allegedly struck a total of three people. Two of the victims survived but a 23-year-old pregnant female, died from her injuries which also resulted in the death of her unborn child.

Detectives say this case went cold after due to exhausted leads by the community.

KCSO hopes that someone will have information regarding this incident and that they are now willing to come forward with that information. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff's Office at (661)861-3110.
