BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Monday, The Kern County Sheriff's Bomb Squad completed a controlled burn of material after a report of aged explosives in the Glennville/ Woody area.
According to officials, the explosives were legally obtained several years ago but had aged to the point that they were unsafe.
The Bomb Squad and KCFD completed a control burn of the material after discussing the matter with the property owner. As expected, the burn consumed a small wooden shed but no other damages were caused.
The Sheriff's Office encourages anyone who is in possession of old explosives, that can no longer be used, to contact the Bomb Squad via the Communications Center at (661)861-3110.
