The Kern County Sheriff's Department is giving the community a chance to go through law enforcement training.

The Community Academy is part of KCSO's "ongoing commitment to build partnerships and understanding with the community we serve. It is designed and taught by Sheriff’s Office personnel to introduce members of our community to the Sheriff’s Office and the criminal justice system."

The KCSO announced on its Facebook page the classes will take place later this year and introduce members of the public to the criminal justice system. Classes will discuss laws of arrest, patrol procedures, and jail operations.

The deadline for applications is July 31, 2020, and the Community Academy is free of charge.

If you are interested in attending, you can get more information by calling 868-1682.
