DELANO, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Department has made an arrest in a Delano area carjacking.
According to KCSO, on June 18 around 3 p.m., Delano substation deputies were dispatched to a report of a carjacking in the area of Cecil Avenue and Wasco Pond Road.
When they arrived on the scene they were able to confirm that a victim had been carjacked by 20-year-old Michael Crumm who was also armed with a gun.
Shortly after, deputies located Crumm driving the stolen car in the area of Pond Road and Highway 43. A hot pursuit followed in and around the city of McFarland before Crumm crashed the car in the area of Sherwood Avenue and Famoso-Porterville Highway.
Officials say Crumm then ran, on foot, into nearby orchards where they were unable to find him.
Deputies eventually obtained an arrest warrant for Crumm and on June 20 deputies arrested him in the 10000 block of Casey Avenue. Crumm was booked into jail on carjacking, assault with a firearm, reckless evading a peace officer, conspiracy, and gang participation.
