MOJAVE, Calif. — A shooting involving a Kern County Sheriff's Office Deputy leaves one man dead in Mojave Saturday morning, following an altercation.

According to a KCSO press-release, deputies responded to the Family Dollar store in the 2300 block of Highway 58, when a man refused to leave the store at about 11:36 a.m.

The man became combative with the deputies and engaged in a physical altercation, leading to at least one deputy opening fire and killing the man, the press release said.

"Deputies sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the altercation," according to the release.
