The Kern County Sheriff's Office identified the 41-year-old victim of a shooting that took place on Dec. 8.

Cesar Gomez Leal was near Steele Avenue and Edison Highway when he was shot by someone at around 12:24 p.m. He was then transported to Kern Medical.

Leal succumbed to his wounds at the hospital. The incident is still under investigation.
