KCSO identify female inmate who accidentally died while in custody

The Kern County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a female inmate at the Lerdo Facitilty in Taft who died while in custody.

59-year-old Kimberly Morrisey-Scalia died on Friday, July 1st. 

She was taken to Kern Medical Center on June 26th after complaining of illness. Officials said her condition declined until her death. 

An investigation determined that Morrisey-Scalia had fallen off a bunk bed, hit her head and was injured. 

The cause of her death is blunt injuries to head and the manner of death is accident, according to KCSO.
