BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE: According to KCSO the baby was in foster care at the time. Officials said that the Sexual Assault and Abuse Investigation Unit is handling the case.

Deputies were called out around 1:14 a.m. on February 21 to the 4100 block of Erin Court in Southwest Bakersfield for a baby not breathing.

The baby was taken to a local area hospital, where it was pronounced dead.

KCSO says detectives responded and assumed the investigation. KCSO says the investigation is active and ongoing.
