(UPDATE 1/4): The man killed in an East Bakersfield shooting Saturday was identified as 34-year-old Ruben Jose Vega of Bakersfield.

A shooting left a man dead in East Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon, Kern County Sheriff's officials said.

A report of a shooting was called in at 3:38 p.m., according to KCSO. The incident happened in the 2000 block of Oregon St.

KCSO describes the victim as an adult Hispanic male, but no other information was immediately available. Deputies say medical aid was rendered to the man on-scene, but he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No weapons were recovered from the scene and no suspect information is available.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
