The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in the 1000 block of Water Street in northeast Bakersfield.

Deputies responded to the call at approximately 9:24 p.m. on Saturday. The victim, an unidentified 23-year-old man, was shot multiple times and was taken to Kern Medical Center.

Officials said he died around 11:30 p.m. as a result of his injuries.

KCSO said the suspect (or suspects) fled in a white-colored mid-sized vehicle.

The shooting resulted in street closures around the area. Connell is currently being held on no bail and is due in court on Tuesday.
