=========================================

On December 11, 2016, around 10:32 p.m., a Kern County Sheriff's deputy went to a home on Cherry Lane, just south of West Valley Boulevard, for a 'keep the peace' report.

When the deputy arrived on scene, he contacted an adult male at the front of the home. While in contact with the adult male, the deputy became involved in a physical confrontation with him. During the confrontation the deputy discharged his firearm once, striking the subject in the torso.

The subject was transported to Kern Medical Center with major injuries and is currently in stable condition. The deputy will be placed on routine administrative leave pending a review of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this case they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (661) 861-3110.
