BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County courthouse has reopened after a phone threat resulted in it being closed by the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
According to Lt. Joel Swanson, the Kern County Sheriff's Office received a phone call at 9:45 a.m. indicating a threat at the courthouse. As a result of that threat, the KCSO cleared the courthouse to confirm or deny that a threat existed.
At around 12 p.m. the KCSO announced that the courthouse had been cleared and it would return to its normal operation at 1:30 p.m.
The Bakersfield Police Department provided additional resources during the evacuation.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office has not provided any additional details at this time.
