Body of man recovered from Kern River during search for missing 11-year-old girl

UPDATE (4:13 p.m.): Search & Rescue tells 23ABC News that the body was found by a private citizen who was part of the search party looking for an 11-year-old girl who has been missing in the Kern River since June.

UPDATE (3:47 p.m.): The Sheriff's Office says the victim is male, but the age has not been determined yet.

The body was found by a private citizen around 12:45 p.m. That person then called KCSO to the location upriver from Highway 178 and Borel Road.

The name of the victim will be released by the Kern County Coroner's office.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Kern County Sheriff's Search & Rescue are on the scene of a body recovery in the Kern River, officials confirmed to 23ABC News.

The recovery happened in the Kern River in the area of Borel Road and Highway 178 west of Bodfish.

No other details are available at this time.

23ABC has a crew on the way to the scene.

There are currently at least three people reported missing in the Kern River, according to the Search & Rescue team. The body of 16-year-old Ivan Esquivel of San Bernardino County was pulled from the river on June 25, four days after he and another teen went missing in the river.
